Killing Time

Read Time:1 Minute, 4 Second

In my last post I started writing the phrase “killing time” and it made me pause. I had no intention to write about this. But let’s see where this train of thought goes.

Killing time is basically trying to figure out how to not feel like we are waiting. We don’t like to do nothing while we’re waiting for something because we feel like we’re wasting time (but more often than not, that time is wasted by scrolling mindlessly around on our phones).

Time. Time is something that God created as a way for us to experience life. Every moment we have is a gift. Each one is an opportunity to be more Christ-like…or not. For the majority of my life, I have not taken advantage of them to grow in holiness. But as I get more advanced in years and mature (shut it, I totally am you meanie-head), I have been doing more little by little.

Maybe we do kill time. Maybe every moment we turn away from God, or we choose to do something that takes our focus completely away from being present to the moment God has called us to, we lose that moment in time forever.

  1. And there’s a beauty to the fact that even when we kill time (or turn away) God is there waiting, in mercy, for us to return. It’s humbling, inspiring, and aspirational as I travel my spiritual journey. Thanks for sharing yours, Deepu. Blessings!
